Resonant Enigma Too: Purpose

I'm making this into an "Art Blog"; more painting and drawing, less aimless wandering and whatnot. Not that there's anything wrong with that ...

Egami Rorrim

~

Ballpoint in 3.5"x5" sketchbook.
Rear view without inclusion of the car mirror.
That's why it kinda slopes off to the left, I reckon.
Just a quicky while I was doing some waiting. It sometimes helps me on such occasions to remember Siddhartha, from the Herman Hesse book, who remarked at one point that one of the things he had learned was "how to wait." Other times I pull out a sketchpad...

Groundhog can suck it

~

These appeared March 1...

... in a hedge in Mom's back yard...

I finally shot 'em yesterday.

And here's an old, big ol' spider drawing, just because.

Buddha the Squirrel

Pencil in 4x6" sketchbook, from a photo on a blog I've long forgotten... a photog in Arkansas, best I remember.

Once upon a time...

~

...1980 something, I started this sketch, on location in a field where I sometimes...did that sort of thing, using just a Bic ballpoint, which is what I used to work it over a bit more in '07, and then some more just a week or so ago.

"Worked it over" should be "overworked" it maybe, but what the hell, it gave me good practice with a new type of Bic ballpoint, since I can't seem to find the kind I used to use.

An old...

~

...pencil in an 11x8.5" sketchbook. Late 80s.

I never much liked this one 'til today. I've been looking through some plein air magazines and you see finished works in all degree of refinement. So I look at this again today, I realize it has all the right values in the right places, it just lacks detail. Still reads like a drawing.

Does a pencil drawing done on location count as "plein air?"
